Q. How can I change the playback speed of a saved AVI video?
i-SPEED Control One and Control Multi-DAQ software automatically saves video to playback at 25 frames per second. To alter this, you can open the video in i-SPEED Viewer or i-SPEED Movie Maker and click File > Save As… This brings up multiple options for resaving the video, including the Play Rate (fps). Adjust this to your desired playback rate and click OK.
Q. I need to mount my camera onto a rig. What are the dimensions of the camera in relation to the mounting hardware on the base?

Q. How do the i-SPEED cameras compress AVI video?
The i-SPEED cameras compress individual frames spatially using varying levels of JPEG compression. To perform temporal compression on the video, simply open the video in i-SPEED Viewer or i-SPEED Movie Maker, click Save As... and choose the desired compression type under Compression.
Q. Is it possible to retrieve deleted video from the camera's internal SSD?
No. For security reasons, the files are permanently deleted and are not retrievable.
Q. Why can't my computer see the network location for the camera's internal SSD?
Ensure that the optional SSD is installed in the camera and that the computer is on the same network submask. The camera default IP address is 192.168.0.99; therefore the computer should be assigned an IP address of 192.168.0.XXX, where XXX is a number between 1 and 255, but not 99.

Search for the network location \\192.168.0.99\ to view the contents of the SSD. Once connected, a video folder should be accessible.
Q. I am having trouble connecting my CDUe to the camera. What should I do?
Ensure that the network cable is connected to both the CDUe and the camera before powering on either device. For more information, please refer to your camera’s Getting Started Guide.
Q. Can an i-SPEED color camera see an 850nm laser?
No, the i-SPEED color cameras have an infrared (IR) cut filter to improve color reproduction. This filter cannot be removed by the customer. Please refer to the relevant camera datasheet on our website. We also recommend a monochrome camera for this application.

Q. Is the i-SPEED Software Suite compatible with Windows 10 and 11?
Yes, the i-SPEED Software Suite is compatible with Windows 10 and 11.
Q. What kinds of lenses are compatible with the i-SPEED cameras?
Our cameras can take a range of lenses (C-mount, F-mount, EF-mount, etc.). Please contact our sales team for help with selecting the appropriate lens mount.
Q. Do i-SPEED cameras work with PIV applications?
Yes, the i-SPEED 5 and 7 series cameras have a Random Snapshot mode which allows the camera to capture an image with every incoming sync signal (from a laser for example). For further information please see the iX Cameras Tech Note for using i- SPEED 7 for Particle Image Velocimetry applications.

Q. Can I control my i-SPEED camera from a distance?
Yes, the camera can be operated by Ethernet up to 100m. If longer distances are required, we recommend switched repeaters or a fiber extender.
Q. How long will my i-SPEED 7 camera operate before I need to recharge the battery?
The internal battery will run the camera for approximately 1 hour.
Q. What file formats do the i-SPEED cameras use to save image files?
TIFF files RAW: 8-bit RAW, 12-bit RAW, 16-bit RAW.
TIFF files uncompressed: 8-bit, 12-bit, 16-bit (mono cameras), 24-bit, 36-bit, 48-bit (color cameras).
JPEG files compressed.
Q. What file format do the i-SPEED cameras use to save video files?
The i-SPEED cameras save in multiple formats.

AVI files compressed or uncompressed.
IXV files RAW: 8-bit RAW, 12-bit RAW, 16-bit RAW.
IXV files uncompressed: 8-bit, 12-bit, 16-bit (mono cameras), 24-bit, 36-bit, 48-bit (color cameras).

You can save from the camera directly to AVI format. The IXV file format may also be viewed and converted to AVI using the i-SPEED Viewer software.
Q. Are i-SPEED cameras rated for High-G applications?
Yes, i-SPEED camera model is available with an optional rugged High-G rated package designed for industrial use. For information on the specific G-Shock rating for individual cameras, please refer to that camera's datasheet.

Q. My i-SPEED 2 series camera is taking a very long time to save a recording, what can I do?
It is recommended that, if possible, your NIC and any network infrastructure such as switches be configured to allow “Jumbo Frames”. Typically set the MTU to the maximum allowed or 9k. This will significantly increase the live view refresh rate and download speeds.
